Dolphin G. Thompson was a
business man with
more than 30 years of management experience.
He founded Associated Counselors International,
a public
relations/management firm in
Washington, D.C.
Most notably, he initiated and led the
effort to gain
Congressional and White House approval for the
erection of a monument in the U.S. Capital honoring
Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, noted educator and
humanitarian. The Bethune Memorial, unveiled in
1974, was the first memorial to an African American
in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Thompson was a graduate of American
University
and a resident of Washington, D.C. over 40 year
